May 11, 2020at 8:40 pmHi – I am seeking the following records on William Bays, Esq., who was murdered in Floyd Co., KY, on 16 Nov 1853. Past research shows you have the following, which I would like copies of: File #53, Common Law Book “C,” October 1853 – September 1871; Wm Bays – Murder; pages 19, 30 39, 43-45, 51-52, 56, 60, 66-68, 76-77, 88, 90-91, 99 and 100. Please advise if these materials are available and how to procure copies (cost as well). Thank you.

May 24, 2020at 3:37 pmAccording to 1860 census records my great, great, grandfather, James Crawford, was a school teacher in Saline. I am looking for information about James and his family. His wife was Mary and Mary and Emma were his two young daughters. James and his family do not appear to be recorded on any subsequent census records. I am thinking James, Mary, and Emma may have died in Saline due to a disease in the area in the mid-1860’s. The daughter Mary and a son Oscar were taken to Ohio by their grandmother. Is there anything in your records to support this theory?

September 11, 2020at 1:41 amI have reached a convoluted point in my family research. In the 1700’s I understand family members had moved to a place in Saline County. A place named Guinn Town or Gwinn Town was settled by Bartlett, William and Almon Guinn (Gwinn variation spelling). I live in South Carolina and trying to put my Dad’s family history together for him before he passes. Can you share where I can find information? The Guinn Family came from Tennessee.

March 6, 2021at 8:26 pmHello, My name is Christine Harris, I live in Kansas City, Missouri, I am a descendent of Henry Shelton found on the 1880 Census for Saline County in Otter Twp. Ancestry lists him as the son of Crispen Eli Shelton and Sarah Williams and that he and Henry A. Shelton in Lawrence county, Ark, are one and the same they are not. I do not know where my Henry’s original death date in 1892 comes from in Saline County but the other Henry Shelton’s records say it is him that buried in Saline County. I can find no prove for either man probate etc. I have followed both families. My first record for my henry is 1840 Carroll county, Mississippi census. He has a 4 month old son in 1850 MS and in 1860 he is living alone in Jefferson County, Ark. but his two youngest children Mary and William born in Mississippi are living with a Richard Moffitt whose father Shadrack lived near Henry in 1840 Carroll County, Mississippi. This Richard must somehow be related however I have no other connection so far, Henry married Rachel some say Donnell and Henry married a Martha C. Donwell some say Donnell and I think that is why there is so much confusion on the family. Henry A. was a liquor dealer and farmer my Henry was a planter and farmer and could not read and write. is there anyone of your members by chance tied to these families? I would love to get this information straightened out and I have worked on my family history for 43 years and this line is my nemesis. I am truely grasping as straws now,.

I am researching hunting in Arkansas prior to 1930. Do you have any documents or pictures that might cover this period?
Thanks,

October 22, 2021at 4:27 pmI am trying to obtain a copy of the following article which appeared in The Saline: Carolyn Earle Billingsley, “The Owen family: building on politics in early Arkansas,” The Saline, volume 7, no. 2, 1992, pp. 73-92. Your website references the availability of this volume in PDF form, but clicking the icon doesn’t produce the PDF. Can you please assist me? I am happy to pay for all expenses involved. Thank you.

December 20, 2021at 4:02 pmI am possession of the flag which was on the casket of Eugene Franklin Prickett, one of the three brothers who owned and operated the dairy in Bryant. Mr. Prickett was born on April 25, 1893 and passed away September 26, 1970. The flag was under the bed at my mother in laws house, Carol Ann Prickett Coburn, one of Eugene’s three daughters, who passed away in September, 2020. We found it as we were clearing out her house. No one in the family is interested in the flag. It is not encased but is properly folded. I am enquiring if the Society might have any interest in the flag? If so, I may be contacted by the email below.

January 21, 2024at 4:40 pmHi there, I am requesting information on my great-great-great grandfather Sydney Franklin Funk. He was a Baptist preacher in Saline or Hotsprings, Arkansas. He was born in 1840 and died in Saline in 1925. I know that he also wrote a published book, and I would like to find a copy of that. Thank you for your consideration.
